First Responders for Recovery
The Richmond Ambulance Authority is proud to launch a specialized post-overdose recovery outreach program, made possible through a strategic grant from the Virginia Opioid Abatement Authority. At the heart of this initiative is a dedicated Registered Peer Recovery Specialist who provides mobile, boots-on-the-ground support to individuals following an opioid-related emergency.
By meeting patients and their families wherever they are—whether in a hospital, a private residence, or on the streets of Richmond—the specialist offers a unique blend of lived experience and professional guidance. The program focuses on:
Immediate Connection: Traveling directly to patients to bridge the gap between emergency intervention and long-term stability.
Harm Reduction: Providing essential education and tools to prevent future fatalities.
Resource Navigation: Linking individuals to community-based recovery services and healthcare systems throughout the city.
Family Support: Helping loved ones navigate the complexities of addiction and the recovery process.
Intake Process: Referral Required;Appointment Required
